Best hockey stick, blade, and flex for roller hockey defense man?

I know must of it is personal prefrence, but I really dont know what stick I should be looking at. (up to $175) and what flex to get I like to take some slapshots and wirstshots. Puck goes low on slapshots. Also what pattern is good for defenseman. The lidstrom or drury or sakic. I dont know or any other pattern. Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate it. 5 stars to best answer.

Based on your size, you%26#039;re best off with nothing stiffer than an 85 flex shaft.

As for your position, your forwards gon%26#039;t want you whistling slappers passed their ears, so don%26#039;t get a pattern with too much loft unless you can controll it. The Lidstrom is like a pitching wedge, so I%26#039;d stay away from it.

Both the Sakic and Drury have moderate loft, but the Drury has a somewhat larger paddle which would be better for a D-Man.

For roller I%26#039;d suggest the Easton Synergy ST or Warrior Dolomite, each around $140 - $150. The corresponding Drury pattern in a Warrior brand would be their Kovalev (Sakic = Draper and Lidstrom = Jovanovski).

If you look at Warrior sticks, you may also want to consider their Weight pattern which is a cross between the Sakic and Drury. Either way, you won%26#039;t go wrong with one of those two patterns (Drury or Weight).

Good luck

Reply:The type of stick you will need to look at depends on the surface you are playing on. If it is a sport court, or a wood floor you can go with a composite stick, if you are playing outdoors on concrete, you will need to go with an ABS plastic blade that you insert into a composite shaft.

As far as the curve pattern goes, you are right it is personal preference. Like I have said here before, see if you can try out some of your buddies sticks before you plop down $150 bucks on a stick you may not like. I sugggest the Forsberg pattern, it has a gentle curve, and you can play the backhand a lot easier than a Lidstrom or Sakic.

My personal favorite stick is the CCM Vector. I use the Turgeon curve. I really like the way this stick feels compared to any other I have used before. My second favorite is my yellow Synergy, also with the Turgeon curve. I live in Dallas, and bought almost all of my sticks from the Dr. Pepper Starscenter%26#039;s from the pro sticks stock they have there.

Good luck, Steve.
