In your opinion, is there a difference between ice skating and roller blading?

Just curious. I%26#039;ve only went ice skating once, but when I was younger I used to roller blade all the time.

In your opinion, is there a difference between ice skating and roller blading?
Big differences. Wheels and Blades. Asphalt vs. Ice... They%26#039;re pretty different, though knowing one helps with the other, somehow. Mostly in skate placement and movement.

Falling on ashpalt hurts a lot more, the friction will get you everytime.
Reply:There is no difference, they%26#039;re both gay.
Reply:There are of course obvious differences as others pointed our but the basic motions are the same in both. The movements required to go forward and backward are the same so yes knowing one will help with the other. The main difference between the two is stopping. With ice skates you can hockey stop which i would not recomend trying with rollerblades.
Reply:Most certainly is a difference.simplest is that (Figure) skates have toe picks on the toes and roller blades have brakes on the back of the skates.Figure Skates also have less ankle support.Hockey skates and roller blades are the closest.
Reply:Of course there%26#039;s a difference - ice skating uses ice and roller blading uses concrete or another solid surface.
