Being a man i am useless at ironing.Whenever i iron something it somehow ends up more creased than before?

As impossible tasks go,this ranks up there with climbing Mount Everest-on roller blades.

Ive tried bribing my sister with money but all i got in return was an earful of colourful language

Does anyone (mostly women i suspect)have any tips/techniques as to how to successfully iron a piece of clothing.

Wait until the iron is hot.
Reply:my husband irons his own stuff

and i bribe him to do mine
Reply:use steam
Reply:Don't let your stuff dry really creased. If you have a really super duper spin on your washing machine, hang the clothes up to dry straight away. At least then you have a fighting chance! Iron things slightly damp too......

Even I iron in creases and I hate ironing as well....... or join the army, they teach you to do it properly!
Reply:Just wear the clothing that you need ironing then go and sit in a sauna for ten minutes.
Reply:Don't ask me, I have the exact same problem. I can't iron woth sh*t. It sucks!

Although, I have figured that if I spray my clothes with water and shake them hard it too gets rid of wrinkles.
Reply:Your question isn't sexist or anything.

Get your butler to do it.
Reply:First, set the temp according to the fabric.

For a shirt, do the collar first, then the sleeves, un-button the cuffs and lay them out on the ironing board and get them as smooth as possible before putting the iron to it, then do the other sleeve. then do one side of the front of the shirt (unbuttoned) then the next, flip over and do the back. For pants, do one leg at a time, don't bother with creases it will just aggravate you.

If it is just too much of a hassle, take you clothes to the dry cleaners and have them laundered and pressed (not dry cleaned) they will be perfect every time.
Reply:With 4 kids, I always have mountain of it, no tips tho, just go through it carefully!

Oh for all creased clothes to be fashionable, I would be in heaven:)
Reply:Well I can do it
Reply:wear loose clothing and have the suit dry cleaned.
Reply:that sounds just like me , i did`nt ask this question did i,,
Reply:i have to reiron everything my husband tries to iron. just give up its a skill no man has
Reply:Perhaps you should ask Sandstorm222 if you could borrow one of his wives to do your ironing.
Reply:No I don't iron, I take it to the dry cleaners and let them do it.....
Reply:Just buy clothes that's made of a wrinkle resistant fabric, it's easier!
Reply:get a woman to show you the correct way.
Reply:Iron your clothes before you put them on, i had to learn the hard way, I'm now covered in 85% burns. that's the last time i give the girlfriend the day off.
Reply:Don't bother - just buy new clothes!!!!

No seriously, look at the instructions on the care label of the garment and check you have the right temperature for the item and make sure you use the steam setting - much easier.

I'd offer to help, but I have enough ironing to put a chinese laundry to shame.
Reply:I don't think being a man means you can't iron.
Reply:I feel so much more "comfortable" talking to Jeremy Clarkson than I do Kenny off South Park, anyway I digress.

Listen I could never iron until I joined the army years ago and I then realised that woman are having us on, its a piece of pi ss. Just stretch out you clothing spray it water from the iron and iron straight away, don't burn the fcker, common sense mate if its silk keep the temp way way down (what am I doing writing about ironing...god I must be drunk) anyway mate keep at it
